"Dedicated mirror channel failed" message reported in Major Event Log (MEL) for IBM System Storage DS3500 unit

Cause

This is a defect as the DS3500 does not have any dedicated mirror channel.

The error is intended for other systems which use the same firmware. The issue was fixed in the 7.77.20 firmware where it would populate Recovery Guru with this message. You may still see the error message in the MEL but it will not put the DS3500 until into a Needs Attention state

You do not need to take any action to clear the error.
