Configuring RAID

If RAID is not configured on the server's disk drives, perform the following steps:

1. You will see the unconfigured disk drives when you press <Ctrl><H> during the system boot. Click Configuration Wizard.
2. Click New Configuration and then click Next.
3. Click Yes on the MegaRAID BIOS Config Utility Confirm Page to confirm that you want to clear the configuration.
4. If you have five or more drives, you can use the Automatic Configuration option to set up RAID. If you have four drives, select Manual Configuration (to set up RAID10) and click Next.
5. Add the first two drives to a Drive Group. Click the first drive in the list, then press and hold the Ctrl key while selecting the second drive. Click Add To Array.
6. The drives are added to the Drive Group0. Click Accept DG.
7. Add the remaining two drives to a second drive group. Click on the third drive in the list, then press and hold the Ctrl key while selecting the fourth drive. Click Add to Array.
8. The disk drives are added to Disk Group1. Click Accept DG. Click Next.
9. To add the array hole to a Span Definition, select the Drive Group0 array hole from the Array With Free Space drop-down list and click Add to Span. Repeat this step for Drive Group1 array hole.
10. The Drive Group0 and Drive Group1 array holes are added to the Span. Click Next.
11. On the Virtual Drive Definition window select Write Back with BBU for Write Policy. Click Accept.
12. Confirm that you want to select Write Back with Battery Backup Unit (BBU) mode; click Yes.
13. On the Virtual Drive Definition panel, click Next.
14. The Configuration Preview panel is displayed. Click Accept to accept and save the configuration.
15. Confirm that you want to select Save this Configuration. Click Yes.
16. When prompted that "All data on the new Virtual Drives will be lost. Want to Initialize?". Click Yes.
17. The disk drives are now initialized. Click Home.
18. RAID 10 is now configured. Click Exit.
19. Click Yes to Exit Application.
20. Use the system's power button to reboot the system.
