보드교체나 UEFI 초기화시 부팅안될때
리눅스용이지만
윈도우와 비슷하게 적용가능합니다
UEFI 가 아닐경우 Legacy로 변경해주면 부팅됩니다.
RETAIN tip: H197457
Symptom
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (SLES11), Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL6) and VMware ESXi 5 do not boot from HDD0 after loading the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) default settings.
Affected configurations
The system is configured with at least one of the following:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, any Update
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11, any Service Pack
- VMware ESXi 5.0, any Update
This tip is not system specific.
This tip is not option specific.
Note: This does not imply that the network operating system will work under all combinations of hardware and software.
Please see the compatibility page for more information: http://www.ibm.com/systems/info/x86servers/serverproven/compat/us/
Workaround
The Workaround depends upon the particular operating system. Use one of the following methods to boot into UEFI OS normally.
For SLES 11:
Method 1:
- Press F1 to enter the UEFI setup menu.
- Select "Boot Manager"
- Boot From File
- NO VOLUME LABEL\efi\SuSE\elilo.efi to boot.
Method 2:
- Press F1 to enter the UEFI menu.
- Select "Boot Manager", "Add Boot Option", "UEFI Full Path Option", "NO VOLUME LABEL\efi\SuSE\elilo.efi".
- Input the description, such as "SUSE11 SP1 EFI mode," and commit changes.
- Go to "Boot Manager", "Change Boot Order".
- Change the "SUSE 11 SP1 EFI mode" to the first order and commit the changes.
For RHEL6:
Method 1:
- Press F1 to enter the UEFI menu.
- Select "Boot Manager", "Boot From File", NO VOLUME LABEL\EFI\redhat\GRUB.efi to boot.
Method 2:
- Press F1 to enter the UEFI menu.
- Select "Boot Manager", "Add Boot Option", "UEFI Full Path Option", NO VOLUME LABEL\EFI\redhat\GRUB.efi.
- Input the description, such as "RHEL 6 EFI mode," and commit changes.
- Select "Boot Manager", Change Boot Order.
- Change the "RHEL 6 EFI mode" to the first order and commit the changes.
For VMware ESXi 5:
Method 1:
- Press F1 to enter the UEFI menu.
- Select "Boot Manager", "Boot From File", ESXi\EFI\BOOT\BOOTx64.EFI to boot.
Method 2:
- Press F1 to enter the UEFI menu.
- Select "Boot Manager", "Add Boot Option", "UEFI Full Path Option", ESXi\EFI\BOOT\BOOTx64.efi.
- Input the description, such as "VMware ESXi 5 EFI mode," and commit changes.
- Go to "Boot Manager", "Change Boot Order".
- Change the "VMware ESXi 5 EFI mode" to the first order and commit the changes.
Additional information
This is working as designed.
It is recommended to not reset UEFI to defaults after the operating system has been installed or it will loose the pointer to boot sector.
Loading the UEFI default settings removes all created boot entries for any UEFI-aware operating system and resets to default settings, such as Preboot eXecution Environment (PXE), HDD0, CD-ROM, and Floppy.

Workaround
The workaround is dependent upon the particular UEFI operating system. Refer to the UEFI operating system information for the actual file name and path used to boot that particular operating system.
For example, for Microsoft Windows Server 2008, the steps are as follows:
- Power on the system, and, when prompted, press F1 to enter setup.
- Select Boot Manager.
- Select Boot from File.
- Select the GUID Partition Tables (GPT) System Partition where you installed Microsoft Windows Server 2008.
- Select EFI.
- Select Microsoft.
- Select Boot.
- Select bootmgfw.EFI.
Additional information
This is working as designed.
Operating system vendors are aware of the symptom. When you boot your UEFI operating system using "use the Boot from File method," the operating system may recreate the UEFI Boot Order Entry if it has been deleted.
By copying the UEFI operating system boot manager to the GPT System Partition directory \EFI\BOOT with the name BOOTX64.EFI, this will allow the EFI operating system to boot automatically.
The boot manager for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 is as follows:
\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\Bootmgfw.EFI
Copying the UEFI operating system boot manager when building the master disk image that will be cloned for deployment will allow the EFI operating system to boot the first time the system is started.
지속적으로 부팅하도록 하려면 add boot 에 bootmgfw.EFI를 추가해주면 됩니다. 부팅순서 1순위로 변경
